Decolonising botany is het thema van de twaalfde editie van de tentoonstelling Beelden op de Berg in het Belmonte Arboretum op de Wageningse Berg. In deze begeleidende essaybundel Decolonising botany - een ander verhaal over planten gaan de auteurs op verschillende manieren in op dit thema. Kritische reflectie en de erkenning en waardering voor de bijdrage van inheemse gemeenschappen spelen hierin een voorname rol.

How and by whom was knowledge about nature, plants and trees aquired? And how has this botanical knowledge been woven into colonialism, nationalism and economic gain? What role does botany play in bringing about unequal power relations and sometimes even in the decline of biodiversity?

Decolonising botany is the theme of the twelfth edition of the exibition Beelden op de Berg at the Belmonte Arboretum on the Wageningse Berg. In this accompanying collection of essays, Decolonising botany - a different story of plants, the authors address this theme from various angles, in which critical reflection and the recognition and appreciation of the contribution of indigenous communities play a prominent role.
