'SCAPE #1/2025 | CAHIER

Softcover with dustbin, 52 pages, full colour

-----------------

This new cahier is all about coming together for a better world: we cover the City Hall’s temporary pop-up park in Boedapest, where landscape architects from Újirány strive to help democratic values blossom. People are invited to interact on a deeper level with themselves and with others to play, care, to contemplate and share knowledge and discuss issues of the future, the city and the good life for all.

Another eyecatcher that celebrates the open, democratic and free public space is Tempelhofer Feld, the former airport in Berlin that became a city park like no other, without a plan, but highely populair. But last year was decided that the Tempelhofer Feld should be developed. Following a competition, six plans were chosen to form the basis for discussions this summer, which are featured in this issue.

Also highlighted is the nature garden in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, designed by Hortense Blanchard and Susana Rojas, and the podcast Swimmable Cities Summit: Urban waterways as an indicator for quality of life. In enthusiastic, joyful (splashing and cheering) conversations, the swimmability of cities as an indicator of a healthy city is being discussed, celebrating the positive strength of water to bring all kinds of people in cities together. Urbanist and architect Franz Ziegler shares his designers’ thoughts, taking the reader along his love for the profession, his sources of inspiration and the projects he is most proud of.
